McCOHN On June 28, 2016, Doris McCohn departed this earthly life for eternal life. A special one from us is gone. She is in a lovely peaceful place now.Doris was preceded in death by her husband Josiah McCohn; parents Bernice and James Dickens; brothers James Sterling, Larry Dickens, Claude Dickens, Benjamin Dickens and sister Julia Carter.She leaves to cherish her memories three sons and two daughters Mitchell McCohn of Little Rock, AR, Thomas (Mary) McCohn of Columbus, Josiah (Kim) McCohn of Springfield, Carrie (Danny) Sanderson of Schumburg, IL and Qua (Tim) Ward of Hilliard; brothers John Willie Dickens of Flint, MI, Arthur Thomas Dickens of Mt. Vernon, NY, Sam Dickens of Detroit, MI and Joseph Dickens of Mt. Vernon, NY, sisters Alma Block of St. Louis, MO, Beatrice Jackson of Columbus, Celia Turner of Oakland, CA, Rosalyn Dickens of Dermott, AR, Paulette Taylor of Logansport, LA, Beverly Frazier and Angee Dickens of Little Rock, AR; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Montrose, AR in 1935, to Bernice and James Dickens, was their special daughter Doris Dickens, a strong beautiful woman with a great tenacity to serve others.She left Montrose and Dermott, AR to move to New London, OH. She married Josiah McCohn and to this union raised five beautiful children. In Norwalk, OH she worked as a telephone operator, where she made sure all callers were properly served. For those who knew Doris, she was a very friendly and generous woman who made sure that those who were in her presence were very comfortable and happy.Later in life, she moved to Rescare in London and worked at a nursing home. She enjoyed taking care of her patients and made sure their needs were met. A private funeral service will be held at the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME, London at the convenience of the family.
