Dixie L. (Diamond) Ater, 74, of London, died Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Madison Health.

Born March 26, 1947, she was a daughter of Lloyd and Ethel (Burlile) Diamond.

Dixie had worked as a corrections officer at Madison Correctional where she retired in 1997. She was a member of the London Baptist Church and also volunteered at Madison County Hospital.

She is survived by her sons Benjamin (Brendi) Ater of London and Thomas (Holly) Ater of Darbydale; grandchildren Quentin, Ava, Abby, Haley, Lily, Brodie, Ben Jr. "Her Bubba"; brother-in-law David Call. She is also survived by special grandson Corey Jeffers of London and cousin Cloris Toops also of London.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Ethel (Burlile) Diamond; birth parents Warren E. and Hazel (Hull) Burlile; sisters Phyllis (Don) Horney and Delores Call; brother Thomas E Burlile while serving in Vietnam in 1965.

Per Dixie's wishes there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers the family recommends donations in Dixie's name be made to the London Baptist Church, 1440 State Route 665, London, or to their favorite charity.
