FRENCH
Dennis Dale French, age 68, of London, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in the Ohio State Ross Heart Hospital.
Born on July 24, 1958, in Marion, Ohio, Dennis was a son of Jonas French Jr. and Sylvia Estelene (Snyder) French. Dennis spent his career working hard to provide for those around him. He spent many years as a steelworker before taking a position at Honeywell, where he ultimately retired from. It was during his time at Honeywell that his generous spirit truly shined – he founded the “Bikes for Kids” initiative, working tirelessly each holiday season to ensure local children woke up to a new bicycle on Christmas morning.
In 2000, he married his wife, Cheryl (Fout). Together, they shared 26 years of marriage and laughter where Dennis always remained a very devoted, loving, and the most caring husband.
An outdoorsman at heart, Dennis was an avid hunter who always appreciated early mornings in the woods and the quiet of nature. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #950 and a proud member of Beer Drinkers of America, always ready to share a cold drink, a good story, and a laugh with friends. Dennis was always a straight shooter – honest, dependable, and deeply loyal to his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Fout-French; sisters Pam Getz and Beverly French; stepdaughter Megan Ballard; granddaughters Milania and Makyra Jackson; nephews Dylan (Samantha) Glass, Jason (Mekenna) French, Mike (Traci) French, Melissa (Brian) Koontz, Erica (Chad) VanSickle; great-nieces and great-nephews: Ally and Parker French, Gabi French, Brooklyn Koontz, Leah Trent, Cheyenne and Emberlee Glass. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Carolyn (Roger) Johnson, brothers-in-law Ray Brown and Kenneth (Carrie) Fout; nieces-in-law Lara (Nick) Fout-Hughes, Dawn (Gary) Long, Mindy (Scott) Harris, Dusty (Joe) Snyder; plus many dear friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Jonas and Sylvia; first wife Bridget French; brother Michael Irvin French; sisters-in-law Patty Brown and Brenda Campbell.
Cremation will take place in accordance with Dennis’ wishes. One of Dennis’ favorite pleasures was sitting down to share a good beer with great friends. To honor that tradition, the family invites friends and loves ones to stop by the family home on Saturday, October 24, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM to raise a glass, share a story, and enjoy a beer in his memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations to support his work in providing bikes to children for Christmas may be sent to: Christmas Bicycles for Kids, c/o Richelle Speakman, 7410 Rebecca Drive, South Vienna, Ohio 45369.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140, where condolences for the French family may be shared online at www.eberlefisherfuneralhome.com.
