David Lynn Casto, 75, of Galloway, died Friday, March 22, 2024, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, with his daughters by his side.

Born August 7, 1948, in McArthur, Ohio, he was a son of Granville Leon Casto and Frankie Marie (Callihan) Casto.

David started his career as a history teacher before becoming a dispatcher for both railroad and trucking companies. He loved being outdoors at every possible opportunity, and some of his favorite activities included hunting, fishing, and golfing. David also enjoyed attending auctions with his brother. An avid gun collector, David had a passion for acquiring and selling antique arms. David was the definition of a selfless man, and to say he was giving was an understatement. He routinely would donate to various charities and organizations devoted to land conservation, particularly Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Above all, David was the rock of his family and always made sure that his girls knew how much love he loved them.

He leaves behind daughters Margaret (Douglas) Case and Catherine (Brandon) Smith; grandchildren Alexxa Casto, Sienna Casto, Remington "Max" Casto, Hannah Case, Delano Smith, Wesson Smith, and Charlie Smith; great-grandchildren Ajay, Amelia, and one on the way; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Debbie Casto; daughter-in-law Lori Casto; beloved four-legged companion Cooper.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rose Marie (Jones) Casto; son Richard Casto; brother Gregory Casto.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, beginning at 12:00 Noon, in Vinton Memorial Cemetery, State Route 160, Vinton, Ohio 45686.
