Obituary

WARNER Claribel J. Warner, 96, of London died Sunday, November 8, 2015 at her granddaughter's home. Born September 29, 1919 in Range Township; she was the daughter of the late Cary and Stacy (Tenney) Tope. Claribel graduated from Midway High School in 1937 and OSU in 1942, with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Arts and Sciences. After college she worked for Laboratories in Columbus. During the war she taught chemistry at Midway High School and later taught elementary and middle school in the Southwestern City School District. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Happy Hour Needle Club, 20th Century Club, Madison County Retired Teachers Association, Thursday Morning Breakfast Group, a 4-H leader and attended Midway Presbyterian Church. Claribel had a love of basketball and played in high school. After high school she stayed involved with basketball by ushering men's basketball games at OSU as well as watching men's pro teams, especially the Cleveland Cavaliers. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed playing euchre. Above all she loved her family and her many friends. She is survived by her children Robert (Lyn) Warner, Jane (Brooks) Beery and Lucinda (Glenn) Gulick; sister Nell (Joe) Capretta; daughter-in-law Donna Warner, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, many friends and special friend Doris Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Gilbert C. Warner, Jr.; siblings Nyda (Mack) McCauslin, Mary (Art) Emrick, and John (Irene) Tope. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:30 AM with visitation from 10AM until time of service in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY. Interment will follow in Range Township Cemetery. Friends may also call at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Wednesday with OES services observed at 7:30 PM. The family suggests donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
