Obituary

CHRISTOPHER PAYNE Christopher "Chris" Payne (affectionately referred to as Bucket), 57, of London, left this world unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, in his residence. Born August 27, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Charles and Joyce (Bass) Payne. Chris was a member of the London High School graduating Class of 1975 where he was a member of the football and baseball teams. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan. Chris had worked nearly 20 years for the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, LoCI as a corrections officer and prior to his service with the state was employed with Honda of America, Creamers Sheet and Metal and the former Stocksdale Supermarket. He never knew a stranger and had a kind heart. Chris would do anything he could to help others. He loved to dance and enjoyed life being with family and friends. Left to cherish his memory, mother, Joyce Payne of London; daughters, Brandi Cain of London and Angelique Payne of Wilmington, Ohio; grandchildren, Jayvion Stevens, Tyler Brunzo, Alivia and Addison Snyder of London, and Ariana Arrington of Wilmington, Ohio; sisters, Chere (Ralph) Scurry and Teresa (Curtis) Brooks of London; nieces and nephew, Ashli Scurry, Natalie and Grant Brooks of London, and adopted niece Alethea Lamberson of Blacksburg, Virginia; aunts, Dollene Scott, Yvonne (Moses) Jamison of Columbus, Ohio and Sandra Foster of Pickerington, Ohio; numerous cousins and friends including special friends Lawrence Booghier, Richard Sockman, Rick Timmons, and Sharon and Jim Williams. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles (Mousie) Payne. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at The First Baptist Church, 250 Toland St., London, with Rev. Melvyn Huguely officiating. Interment will follow in Deercreek Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 2, at the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St., London. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul A.M.E. Church Building Fund, 11 W. Center St., London, Ohio 43140.
