Carolyn J. Tewksbury, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 25th, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. Born to Roman and Mildred Dobbs on January 19th in 1935. Carolyn lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of many with her kindness, wittiness, and unwavering spirit.
Carolyn was a beloved mom to her daughters, grandma to her grandchildren and "old grandma: to her eight beloved great-grandchildren.
Carolyn graduated from West High School then worked at the Julian and Kokange Shoe Factory, she married James Tewksbury on July 28th, 1957. Throughout her life, Carolyn was dedicated to her family and her running and maintaining their family farm. Carolyn drove a school bus for the Madison Plains School District for 30 years before retiring. She also was a dispatcher for the Mt. Sterling Police Department. She impacted the lives of countless families and children. Carolyn was a 4-H advisor for the Deer Creek Raiders. Carolyn was a wonderful friend and person inside and out, always bringing warmth and joy to all who knew her.
Carolyn is survived by daughters: Patty Match and Ruth Ernst; grandchildren: Jamie Guynes, Kacie Bunting, James Ernst, Jennifer Cassidy, and Alie Match; and eight great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory. She was preceded in death by James Tewksbury (spouse), Jessica Ernst (granddaughter), and Harrison Ernst (great-grandson).
At her request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jessica Ernst Memorial Fund established for Jessica's boys. Checks can be made payable to: The Jessica Ernst Memorial Fund and mailed to 10581 Kiousville-Palestine Road, Mount Sterling, OH 43143.
Carolyn will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her remarkable life and the love and spirit shared with all who knew her.
