Obituary

MOORE

Carletta Kay (Beard) Moore, age 76, of Hilliard, formerly of London, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, in Darby Glenn Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born on December 7, 1949, in Xenia, Ohio, she was a daughter of Carl Beard and Mary (Chaney) Beard.

A 1968 graduate of Greenview High School, she went on to attend cosmetology school and spent decades working as a skilled beautician. For Carletta, doing hair was never just a job – it was a way to make women feel confident, cared for, and at their best. Her sense of service only grew over time; she regularly traveled to the homes of those who were “shut-in”, ensuring even though they could not leave their home, they could still be pampered and remembered.

Her faith was central to everything she did. An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of London, Carletta dedicated her summer days to volunteering and teaching Vacation Bible School, sharing her love of God with younger generations. She was a woman of profound Christian faith who believed deeply in the gospel through quiet, selfless action. Carletta was the kind of person who would give anyone the shirt off her back before they even thought to ask, never seeking credit or praise for her generosity, even if it meant she had to do without herself.

Carletta spent many years as a popular aerobics’ instructor at the Lake Choctaw Lodge, where she loved running a high energy class to keep her friends and neighbors both active and connected.

Nothing brought her more joy than her family – they were, without question, the lights of her life. She was fiercely proud of her sons, lived to dote on her grandchildren, and pampered her cherished grand dogs. No achievement was ever too small for her to celebrate; she took immense pride in their lives, carefully recording and journaling their accomplishments over the years so no milestone was ever forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory include her adored sons: Jason (Chantal) Moore and Sean (Mandy) Moore; beloved grandchildren: Amelia (Tyler) Conmay, Derek (Amelia) Moore, Ty, Madden, and Lyla Moore; brother Fred (Karla) Beard, sister Rosalind Turley; nieces Krista Ratcliff and Beth Austin, nephew Joey (Gina) Turley; numerous cousins; dear friends: Esther Wheeler, Janie Cox, and Marjorie Daniels.

Carletta was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Mary; brother-in-law Joe Turley; nephew-in-law Brock Ratcliff.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140. Funeral services will commence at 12:00 Noon, and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville, Ohio.

Memorials in Carletta’s name may be sent to benefit the Madison County Humane Society, 2020 State Route 142 NE, West Jefferson, Ohio 43162.
