Obituary

HAMMAN

Carl Robert Hamman, age 68, died on Friday June 9, 2023.  He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Clark) Hamman, two sons Robert Walton (Lindsey) Hamman and Scott Clark (Lauren) Hamman and four grandchildren, Harper, Blakely, Rhett and Quinn.  He is also survived by his two sisters Jenny (Robert) Schmitz and Peggy (Charles) Landes.  He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Minshall Hamman and Joanne (Tuttle) Hamman.

Carl grew up in Clarksburg, Ohio in Ross County. He graduated from Adena High School in 1973 where he was All-Ohio in football and also excelled in basketball and baseball.  He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1977.  It was while attending OSU, that Carl met the love of his life, Nancy Clark.  They were married on November 25, 1979.

With a degree in Agriculture Education from OSU, Carl went to work immediately farming in and around Ross County. Carl was anything but a typical farmer.  He was, in fact, an entrepreneur businessman. He was constantly on the lookout for a new project or innovation and was happy to tell you one of his many stories or jokes to brighten your day.  And oh could he tell a story!

Carl's adventures in farming and business took him into low cholesterol private label pig breeding and packaging, an aerial imaging company to the current family businesses of Watershed Management, drainage and tiling Nancy's Blankets, an erosion control blanket company, and Mad Dog foam bridges.

When he wasn't farming, Carl was reading the latest news to quench his love of learning, whether it was the news on medicine, the stock market, or farming.  He and Nancy also loved traveling and attending more rock and roll concerts than you could count.

Carl had a huge presence and a larger than life personality fueled by his passions.  He loved people and people loved him.  He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Carl loved his dogs and they often rode with him while he traveled the countryside checking on his watersheds after a rain.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 15, from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Eberle Fisher Funeral Home and Crematory, 103 N.
