Obituary

GERARD

Bonnie Sue (Beasley) Gerard, age 78, of London, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati.

Born September 17, 1947, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Bonnie was a daughter of Ben Beasley and Maxine (Gilpin) Beasley.

Known affectionately to generations of local children as “Miss Bonnie,” she spent many years nurturing young minds through the home-based preschool she operated, Miss Bonnie’s Preschool. Later in life, she brought her warm presence to Meijer, where she served as the seafood department manager.

Bonnie loved reading and watching her beloved Hallmark Movies. Her compassionate heart shone brightest in her boundless love for animals, and her life was enriched by the many pets she was able to care for over the years.

Faith and fellowship were central to Bonnie’s life. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of London, she truly adored her church family and the community they shared. More than anything else, her heart belonged to her family. Bonnie cherished nothing more than moments spent together with her children and grandchildren, who were her absolute pride and joy.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughters Christina (Stephen) Bow and Angelina (Drew) Simmons; her grandchildren Claudia and Mitchell Bow who affectionately called her Nana; sister Jean (Ed) Fisher; niece Amy McLaughlin, nephews Eric (Stephanie) McLaughlin and Tim (Christine) Fisher.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Richard Gerard, sisters Barbara McLaughlin and Betty Jo Beasley.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon in the First Presbyterian Church of London, 211 Garfield Avenue, London, Ohio 43140. A memorial service will begin at 12:00 Noon with Dr. Mark Johnson officiating, and entombment will immediately follow in the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium. A time of food and fellowship at the church will then be celebrated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bonnie’s name may be directed to any non-kill animal shelter of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140, where online condolences are encouraged to be shared at www.eberlefisherfuneralhome.com.
