MASTIN

Betty Jane (Hansel) Mastin, age 96, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, in Madison Health, surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 7, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, she was a daughter of Ervin Hansel and Dolly (Broadwater) Hansel. Betty graduated from Beall High School in Frostburg, Maryland in 1946. She married William Festerman in 1947 and had a son Kenneth Festerman and daughter Beverly Evans. Betty then married John D. Coomer and had two daughters, Vicki (Ray) Skidmore and Cindi (Tim) Price. She later married John “Jack” Mastin and had two more daughters, Rose Anne (Ed) Bizub and Jackie Mastin.

After living her life in Maryland and Delaware, Betty moved to London, Ohio, with her husband, in 2006. In most recent years she lived with her daughter Beverly, as her caretaker. She had belonged to the VFW, the American Legion at one time, and the Madison County Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bingo and euchre and made many friends there. She was saved at the London Baptist Church in 2018 and later attended the Crossroads Community Church.

She enjoyed cooking for her family and especially loved making peanut butter fudge, homemade ice cream, and baking numerous pies and cakes of which she would gift to her friends and relatives.

Betty was a proud grandmother to 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren as well as several step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister Dorothy Spataro, five nieces, and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Mastin, her parents Ervin and Dolly, granddaughter Jessica Skidmore, grandson Bobby Thurston, brother Glenn D. Hansel, and brother-in-law Sonny Spataro.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140.
