HACKWORTH
Irvin Edward “Ed” Hackworth, 79, of London died August 17, 2019 in his home. He was born December 18, 1939 in Lawrence County, Ohio to Earl Hackworth and Evelyn (Craft) Hackworth Deneca. Ed was retired from LOCI. He was recognized for his dedication to his job by being chosen as correction officer of the year in 1988. He was an avid sportsman and was a longtime member and former trustee of the Madison County Fish and Game Club. He was also a member of the NRA and the Madison County Senior Center. A US Army veteran, he retired from the Ohio National Guard after 20 years, serving during the Xenia Tornado and the Ohio Pen riot. He loved spending time with his family and his kitty girl, Lily. Ed is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Nancy (Butcher) Hackworth; son Mike (Christa) Hackworth, daughter Lisa (Keith) Huffer; granddaughters Kristin (Bryan) Hollis, Chelsea (Dustin) Caudill and Lindsay Huffer; great grandson Gavin Ray Hollis; brothers Earl Hackworth, Paul “Bill” (Jane) Hackworth, Ted (Kay) Deneca, Steve (Tammy) Deneca, sister Tina (Mike) Hale; aunt Nettie Marie Craft; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Sherman Deneca and sisters Ethel Mae and Dorothy Lou Hackworth. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 23, 2019 in the EBERRLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main Street, London with Pastor Steve Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in Paint Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 PM Thursday. The family suggests memorials in Ed’s memory be sent to Madison Health Oncology Department, 210 N. Main Street, London, OH 43140.
