THOMPSON Henry L. "Lafe" Thompson, 77, of West Jefferson, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Doctors Hospital, Columbus. Born February 17, 1936 in Webbville, Kentucky; he was a son of Henderson and Blanche (Knisley) Thompson. Lafe had worked as a truck driver with ODOT before retiring in 1998 and had been in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife Donna J. (Penwell) Thompson, children Medina Conley (Steve Collins) of Springfield, Richard Thompson (Joan Wilson) of Columbus and Katrina (Martin) Perry of Mt. Sterling; grandchildren Mike, David and Rick; great grandchildren Eric and Hunter; sister Lucy "Francis" Beever of Illinois, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters June and Susaline and brother Clayton. Funeral services will be held at 1:0 PM Friday in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main Street, London with Reverend Dortha Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Big Plain Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday. The family requests that visitors feel free to wear casual clothes to the visitation and services. If they wish, friends may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
