GRAY
Betty Jean (Gochenour) Gray, 87, formerly of Mt. Sterling, died peacefully Sunday, October 27, 2019 in Darby Glenn Nursing Home, Hilliard.
Born December 20, 1931 in Pickaway County; she was a daughter of Pearl Henry and Reva Gwyn (Hill) Gochenour.
A member of the Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church; Betty had worked a variety of occupations during her life. She was employed as a store clerk at Tommie’s Grocery Store, a teller at Sterling National Bank, a medical assistant for several different doctor’s offices and an expediter at Versa Corporation to name a few. Betty loved music-especially singing in choirs and directing church choirs. Betty was also a strong supporter of all her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She was always present.
Survivors include her children Sue (Jon) (Gray) McClelland, Teresa Lynn Gray, Donna Lee (Gray) Long, John Walker Gray, II and Harold Eugene (Mary) Gray; grandchildren Andrew (Rebekah) McClelland, Jessica (Paul) Berick, Nicholas Gray (Whitney Iles), Alexandra (Matthew) Stiffler, Justin (Esther) Gray, Haley (Michael) Carge, Madison Long (Jenna Roberts), John Richard Gray, II (Ashley Millikin), Shannon Riell and Patrick Riell; great-grandchildren Mya, Graycen, Elijah, Emma, Ezra, Wesley, Claire and Vera; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John “Smokey” Gray in 2017 and two brothers Donald and Kenneth Gochenour.
The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care received from the staff of Darby Glenn Nursing Home and from Ohio Health Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church with Dr. Reverend Karen Crawford and Reverend Casey Wilson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. Friends may call at the church from 3-5 PM Sunday.
